American Idol Season 6 Episode 1
Blog #1 regarding Season 6 of "American Idol"
I was doing my happy dance last night, laughing my head off. After all these years I never get tired of watching the deluded try to get their 15 minutes of fame. Given all the early press about how bad the Seattle auditions were I just can't see how they can be worse then Minneapolis. We will of course get to watch Seattle tonight.
According to Ryan 10,000 people tried out in Minneapolis and only 17 were passed on to Hollywood, very scary.
I realize the producers show mostly the bad singers during the audition shows and throw in a few of those you were given the Golden ticket to Hollywood, we saw only 7 of the 17 that were passed through.
Of the 7 contestants shown there were only two that I actually liked, the first one was Denise Jackson (16 years old) who was the crack baby, I really enjoyed her performance and the other was Matt (also 16). The others did not impress me including the two armed services members. I really did not see what the judges saw in the Spanish woman they passed through, I didn't like any of her audition songs.
Apparently those trying out just don't pay attention to the prior seasons, why can't people remember song selection is everything and don't forget the lyrics. Good heavens, haven't they heard of writing them on their palm, arm, or even bringing in the lyrics on a sheet of paper.
Last night we had it all. The scary, the totally deluded, and the really bad. The woman who did "If I Were King of the Forest" from the "Wizard of Oz" was interesting in how she couldn't believe the judges didn't like it. I have to admire the nerve of the woman who tried to sing a Jewel song in front of Jewel and do it so horribly, it took guts.
Tonight we have the Seattle auditions and if they are as bad as rumored it should be a fun evening!
