American Idol Season 6 1st Results Show 2/22

Last night's result show was actually not too bad. It didn't seem to drag on like some of the others do. I also felt the reveal of who is getting eliminated was handled pretty well given what is happening. Last year I thought the first couple were very harsh.

The four who were eliminated were Paul, Rudy, Amy and Nicole. Well I got one right from each group although I did say Leslie or Nicole were in trouble.

I have to say Paul was the only contestant's who actually sounded better in their sign off song but he still could hit the high note from "Careless Whisper".

It was interesting that there were 32,000,000 votes over two days, pretty impressive.

Interesting twist with a group number. I have to say the men started it off rough but they all rallied for a good ending of "Seeds of Love".

Nice little twist with the American Idol Challenge although last night's question was way too easy, they need harder trivia so I have a better chance of winning. I did vote the maximum number of 10; however, I went the free route on line.

Fantasia actually did a nice job and she has toned down her dramatic movements although they are still there. I actually liked the song to. They did though rudely cut off Quincy Jones before he could finish speaking.

The announcement of some of the guest artists were interesting:

Diana Ross
Jon Bon Jovi
Jennifer Lopez (and exactly what is she going to teach them, it is not like she has a great body of musical hits she has written or performed)
Gwen Stefani (I love Gwen and I am happy there is going to be a No Doubt reunion but again I am not sure what instruction she will be giving them)
Tony Bennett
Martina McBride (country theme night - this might help the women but I am not seeing the guys singing Martina songs, although it might actually be good entertainment)
Lulu and Peter Noone (come on Please!)
Barry Gibb

Round 2 starts again next Tuesday and by Thursday another 4 will have lost their dream to be the next American Idol!
