American Idol 7 - Semi Finals Results for Round 1

American Idol is how about building up hopes and then having us the viewing public tear them down.

I do enjoy watching the result shows on tape because I can fast forwarded through most of the crap.

Can I say how excited I am that I was 75% correct on my elimination choices, I think that is the best I have done during the semi-final rounds in the last couple of years.

The show had way too much filler, this show could have been done in a half hour which includes the group number and Paula's video.

Let's talk about the group number and how absolutely cheesy it was and with all the incredible songs that were created in the 60's we got stuck with some pretty lame one's and I don't think the genre is the contestant's cup of tea. The ladies fared better with the costumes then the men. The entire group number was a great comedy act, I laughed through the entire thing.

We got to the first elimination quickly Garrett Haley gone. As far as I am concerned Garrett deserved to be sent home for the ridiculous hat he was wearing. I love hats but not that one and he just did not have the verve to pull it off.

Then for the ladies, Amy Davis gone.

Oh joy, Paula and Randy's video. I will admit Paula does look great but the pink filters on those lights helped. She can still move and I loved the choreography but her vocals are strained and she is just lucky there are so many synthesizers they can run the master through to make her sound good. It is a pretty lame song.

The next elimination is for the ladies and Ryan calls up Amanda Overmyer and Joanna Borgella. This means of course Amanda was closer to the bottom so I was happy about that given that hideous performance but JoAnna is sent home.

I was 3 for 3 and pretty psyched let me tell you.

It is time for the men, Chikeze and Colton Berry are brought center stage and I realized I wasn't getting a hundred percent but I was not disappointed so to speak. Colton Berry was sent home but Chikeze was at the bottom as well which is proper given his hideous performance.

Garrett Haley
Amy Davis
Joanna Borgella
Colton Berry

These were America's choices for elimination and now there are 20.

It is interesting that for the men two of our teenagers are gone with David and Danny left. This tells me those teens split the vote between all 4.

It all starts again next Tuesday.
