AI 9 5-5-10 And now there are four
Wednesday arrives so it is time for another elimination results show.
Crap, they have revived the group number and this was lame, lame, lame. We really need to pull out “The Lady is a Tramp” with Crystal being the only female – give me a freaking break. The contestants continue to lip sync poorly and the choreography is not worth mentioning.
Time for the Ford video and once again, I was underwhelmed with the execution. I did like the song from Plain White T’s though.
Filler for the episode continues as we have a drawn out video of what Tuesdays mean for the contestants and the only thing of any real interest to me is they actually have four stand in judges who only provide positive comments to the contestants, it seems this is setting them up for failure dear producers.
Time for results and Lee is safe. How surprising – NOT!
The first musical performance of the evening is Lady Gaga. This was not live but it was taped live on the Idol stage a month or so ago. Why did the producers wait to this week’s theme to play the video clip because Lady Gaga just screams crooner. I adore Lady Gaga and this performance. Lady Gaga always surprises with her choice of costumes and antics. This was one of her more subdued performances but then the next day the internet was buzzing because Fox edited her performance due to time constraints or at least that is their story. There would have been plenty of ways to shave off time from the hour results show without editing the performance. Lady Gaga is definitely a love her or hate her type of artist and I firmly fall in the first category.
We have to sit through more video of Harry being a mentor to fill up the hour as it blends into Harry performing. I really liked the performance. Harry Connick, Jr. is a very gifted artist indeed.
Harry then conducts the contestants into a medley of his songs, which was interesting but not spectacular.
The light bulb has gone on; Harry is pimping for his show on Broadway.
It is time for the elimination. Ryan breaks up the final four into two separate groups, which included Casey and Crystal on one side of the stage, while “Big Mike” and Aaron was on the other side. Ryan then asked Casey to make the decision about who was the bottom two which he refused to do.
Casey and Crystal are safe with “Big Mike” and Aaron up for elimination. “Big Mike” sings his heart out week after week yet he keeps ending up in the bottom. There is something seriously wrong with America where a contestant who can sing is in the bottom versus Casey who was freaking horrible and really has been horrible for the majority of his performances are safe.
Aaron is going home tonight. I am not disappointed in the results I am just shaking my head that Casey was not in the bottom.
It really pains me but I realize now Crystal will not be winning this competition although it might work out better for her in the end. The winner is going to come down to either Casey or Lee which is just plain sad and terrible.
I anticipate a top three of Crystal, Lee, and Casey and the contestants have not even taken the stage but I can recognize the warning sign.
Next week’s theme is music from the movies (a very broad topic indeed) with Jamie Foxx as a mentor. Ronald is just shaking his head.
Until next week…
