AI 9 2-25-10 Elimination Round 1 - The Results

They share the same dream. They share the same stage. This is their opportunity but their destiny is unclear. All are fighting for their spot in the top 12 but four will have to leave the stage tonight. Your votes are in – this is AMERICAN IDOL!

Ryan announces there were 24 million votes cast (and for the first time in nine season not one came from me) and now two guys and two girls will be going home.

Tell me the top 24 are not going to do a group number, oh crap, they are. “American Boy” is the song and let me say I was unimpressed with their lip-synching. This was a lame group number. The choreography was stupid and the vocals were just not there. What is up with season nine?

We are at least getting to the results without much filler for once. The girls are up first. Siobhan, Haeley, Michelle, and Katelyn are safe. In the top row, we are down to Katie and Janelle. One of them is going home. Katie is safe and Janelle’s journey ends tonight.

I have to say Janelle was very poised and gracious in defeat then I have seen in all the seasons so far. I have never enjoyed the idea of the loser having to sing the song, which caused them to be eliminated, and Janelle’s reprise was worst then on Tuesday.

It is time for Allison Iraheta to grace the Idol stage once more. I enjoyed the performance and I like the song but Allison who is your stylist. The dress was stupid and do not get me started on my pet peeve of hair over the eyes, what is up with this trend? It is ridiculous. I love the actual hair color and style but get the f*^king hair out of your eyes!

Time for the second elimination of tonight’s results show. Paige, Lacey, Lilly, Crystal are all safe. We are down to Ashley and Didi. Didi is safe and Ashley is heading home. Once again, Ashley’s reprise of “Happy” was a continuing nightmare I did not want to revisit.

Well I at least got one guess right which is about par for the course at this stage of the game.

We now move on to the men. “Big Mike”, John, Aaron, and Todrick are safe. We are down to Tim and Joe. Tim is safe and Joe’s journey ends tonight. I have to say Joe’s performance improved from the night before. I could actually understand the words.

Ryan announces “Idol Gives Back” returns on April 21 but they are starting now in assisting the Haiti relief effort. Kris Allen is on the stage explaining about what he saw when he was there. Kris performs a truly haunting version of “Let it Be”. The song is available on iTunes (I downloaded it) and the funds will go to the Haiti relief effort.

Can the hour show be over all ready? It only took me about 25 minutes to watch it.

The final elimination of the evening is on. Casey, Jermaine, Lee and Andrew are safe. We are down to Tyler and Alex with Alex safe. Tyler ends his journey tonight. This elimination actually surprised me. I have to admit Tyler sounds better tonight as well and thankfully, he does not have a mike stand.

I only picked one of the four eliminated but my tastes and America’s has never been in sync.

We are now down to the Top 20. There will be more “Billboard Hits” this week. I am just hoping the remaining contestants step up their game.
